The goal of the OpenData project is to create and maintain a global data pool of information about cooperatives, owned, used and controlled by the world's cooperatives. Built on open source technologies and principles, and drawing on the successes of the Global 300 and UK Top 100 projects, the OpenData Cooperative will be a worldwide alliance of cooperative organisations committed to the development of the cooperative business model through sharing key data about cooperatives.
OpenData applications can be developed and made available to the cooperative community under the licensing terms of the OpenData project, allowing for innovative leveraging of the database to meet changing needs over time.
